A series of top European clubs are interested in signing Erling Haaland but as per The Times, Manchester City could get their hands on him for just £64m.

As per the report, Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola will be holding talks with the Premier League giants in January as the Norwegian wishes to move out of Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 2021/22 season.

The forward has a £64million release clause in his contract that will activate next summer so City could get their hands on him for a cut-price deal.

This rumour, if true, is going to be a major blow for clubs like Man United, Liverpool and Real Madrid as they all hold an interest in signing the 21-year-old.

Is Erling Haaland set to join Manchester City next summer?

Former EPL keeper Paddy Kenny believes Man City will go all out to sign Erling Haaland next year since he’s turning out to be a much cheaper alternative to Harry Kane.

“Listen, Tottenham were looking at £120-130million for Harry Kane, who’s a lot older than Haaland,” Kenny told Football Insider. “To think you’re going to get someone of his quality and physique, look at him, he’s an absolute machine. He scores goals for fun.

“To get him for £64million is an absolute bargain. I’m sure City can get him, I’m sure wage-wise they’ll pay him whatever he wants.

“It’ll be a massive signing because obviously, to me, they could do with a big number nine like Haaland.”

Pep Guardiola failed to land Harry Kane last time around but this failed transfer seems to have turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Man City.

Obviously, if the £64m-clause is correct then Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid will happily challenge City in this transfer race. But the Etihad outfit will still remain the favourites for more reasons than one.

Firstly, at City Erling Haaland will be the undisputed first-choice striker but at Manchester United and Liverpool he will face competition for his position. United have Ronaldo and Cavani while Liverpool have signed Diogo Jota just a few seasons ago.

Also, Manchester City are a well-oiled machine who are clearly the best-placed Premier League side to win the Champions League in coming years. So at the Etihad, Haaland is guaranteed to win silverware.
