Liverpool picked up a really important win over Spurs on Sunday and with that Jurgen Klopp’s men have managed to reclaim the top spot on the table.

The home team took an early lead through Roberto Firmino but then the Lilywhites fought back and equalised through Lucas Moura with just 20 minutes left on the clock.

And this was when everyone expected the two giants to split points.

One point for Spurs would not have been a bad result but for Liverpool, it would have been nothing short of a disaster.

But then everything changed in injury time when Toby Alderweireld scored an own goal to hand Liverpool all the three points.

And speaking after the match, former Red Jamie Carragher claimed that it was the introduction of Fabinho late in the second half which helped turn the tide in Liverpool’s favour.

“I thought he made a big difference when he came on. [Leaving him out] was a slight surprise,” he explained(as reported).

“It could be any of three [that he replaced], it’s not a single person you point at.

“It’s just that Liverpool’s starting midfield are very similar players, you know exactly what you’re going to get.

“[When Fabinho came on] his passing and how he wins the ball back quickly [were important].

“I think it’s something we’ll see between now and the end of the season.”

Fabinho had to endure a really tough time during the first couple of months of the season but recently his influence on the team has grown and the midfielder has been getting regular game time now.

Against Spurs, Jurgen Klopp chose to play the trio of Wijnaldum, Henderson and Milner but that was only because the German wanted to add a bit more screening for his defenders.

But after the introduction of Fabinho, the shackles well and truly came off and the results are there for everyone to see.
