Granit Xhaka Arsenal news
Granit Xhaka Arsenal

Arsenal took on Burnley FC in the Premier League last weekend but Granit Xhaka was an absentee in that game.

There had been rumours that the Gunners were planning to let the midfielder leave during the summer transfer window with a number of big clubs being constantly linked with him.

But in the end, the club chose to hold onto him and he went on to start the first game of the season vs Newcastle United.

Granit Xhaka though failed to make it to the matchday squad vs Burnley due to a lower back injury.

And speaking about the injury last week, Unai Emery said that he had bruises on his lower back and his legs which is why he did not feature during matchweek 2 of the new season.

This had also created doubts regarding his participation vs Liverpool at Anfield this coming Saturday with rumours circulating that Granit Xhaka is yet to recover from his back injury.

Now though it looks like the midfielder will be available for selection with reports claiming that he has returned back to first-team training this week.

This means that Granit Xhaka is in line for selection and if the reports of his fitness hold true then he will surely feature in the first XI vs Jurgen Klopp’s side.

During the 2-1 win vs Burnley, it was Willock who started in central midfield alongside Matteo Guendouzi but with the Swiss international returning to the fold, the youngster is more or less certain to drop down to the bench.

While Lucas Torreira is also fit and available for selection but Unai Emery will surely want the experience of someone like Granit Xhaka in the midfield region especially since Arsenal will be facing one of the best sides in the whole of Europe.

Lucas Torreira came off the bench last weekend vs Burnley and the Uruguayan could do the same vs Liverpool – this time replacing Granit Xhaka(possibly) during the final quarter of the match.
