Manchester City travel to Anfield this Sunday to take on Liverpool in the English Premier League and Ilkay Gundogan’s injury might miss be a bit of a concern for Pep Guardiola.

Ilkay Gundogan picked up a knock during Man City’s 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim in the Champions League which has clouded his participation in the Liverpool clash.

According to reports, Gundogan’s injury looks serious and his hamstring might have gone through a bigger tear than expected.

This means the midfielder might not be able to make the trip to Anfield which will surely be a big problem for Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City’s medical staff though are not giving up hope just yet and they are in the process of making thorough examinations.

It is being reported that if Gundogan’s injury is not too massive then he will go through a late fitness test in order to determine his eligibility for Sunday’s match.

While Gundogan’s injury is surely bad news for Guardiola but he will be happy that Kevin De Bruyne is making a speedy recovery and there is a possibility the Belgian International could feature against Liverpool.

De Bruyne has been sidelined with a knee ligament injury since the start of the season but the manager has revealed the midfielder is back to full training and will start playing pretty soon.

If Gundogan’s injury does keep him out during Sunday’s game vs Liverpool then Kevin De Bruyne could get right back into the team – given he is a 100 per cent fit.
