Arsenal keeper Petr Cech started the new season as the No 1 under new boss Unai Emery and it looked like the veteran was not ready to give up with a fight.

But as the weeks have rolled by Cech has fallen down the pecking order and has been replaced by summer signing Bernd Leno infront of the posts.

Now with his deal expiring during the summer, there are rumours that Petr Cech will try and move out of the club either this month or at the end of the season.

Recently Unai Emery was asked what the future holds for Petr Cech to which the manager gave a very diplomatic answer.

“I don’t know now, it has to do with the club and the player,” Emery said.

“He started this season very well, very good behaviour, commitment and also performance. And then when he had his injuries, he recovered his position on the bench.

“I am very happy with him. We will speak in the future with the player but at the moment I want his focus to be the same in every training and match.”

After this statement, it was almost certain that Petr Cech will not have a place in Arsenal’s squad next season but now the shot-stopper has revealed that he very much wants to stay beyond the summer transfer window.

“I would like to stay but we are in January,” Petr Cech said(as reported by the Evening Standard).

“The season is long so you never know what will happen. I don’t feel stressed or pressed about when we sit and when we talk.

“I just do my job and in the end, we can easily sit and discuss it, so we will see. I haven’t [had an offer yet] and after the transfer window we will talk and see where we are.”

Petr Cech was a regular feature under Emery during the start of the season but then he was struck with injury and hasn’t started a Premier League game for the Gunners September of 2018.

And with no hopes of a new deal, the keeper might very well move out of the Emirates as a free agent next summer.
