Rangers FC were knocked out of the Scottish Cup as Aberdeen won the quarter-finals replay 2-0.
McGinn and McLennan found the net for the Dons despite Rangers having control of the match for the most part of 90 minutes.
The Gers had 15 shots during the match but out of that, they could only manage to hit two on target. But on the other hand, Aberdeen had only four shots out of which three were on target.
After this defeat, many people have started claiming that Steven Gerrard is not a happy man and that the board could now start to tighten the noose around their manager’s neck.
Some have also claimed that Steven Gerrard has done very little to bring back the glory days at Ibrox and that the former Liverpool man should be sacked.
But according to former Scotland international Alan Rough, Steven Gerrard should not be too worried despite the Cup exit and that it is too early to call for the manager’s head.
“No, I don’t think so [that Gerrard is under pressure after the defeat against Aberdeen]”, Rough said on the PLZ Soccer show.
“I think when Steven Gerrard decides to move, it will be his decision, I don’t think the club will make that.
“He’s had a good European run, which will be a big plus for them.
“They are a better side, there’s no doubt about that.
“Yes, they do have to win trophies, but I don’t think he’ll get sacked.
“I think he’ll be there until they improve, I really don’t think they’ll sack him.”
Rangers might have had a mixed bag season but there is no denying that Steven Gerrard has done a lot of great work ever since he took charge last summer.
The manager had brought in a series of new players before the start of the season and this January he has focused more on balancing out the youth with some senior pros.
