Atletico Madrid might be planning to sell Jan Oblak really soon and they want Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez to replace him, as per La Razon.

Oblak is one of the biggest assets in Diego Simeone’s squad but there’s a big chance he could be sold during the next summer transfer window. And the Spanish side are eyeing a possible move for 29-yar-old Martinez.

Sport Witness cites the report: “La Razon reporting Atletico Madrid have interest in the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

“Their current stopper, Jan Oblak, is considered one of the best in the world, yet there’s a chance he could be sold next summer.

“Atletico are at the limit of their salary allowance and will need a big exit if they’re to bring in senior reinforcements.”

Will Emi Martinez replace Jan Oblak next season?

Emi Martinez has certainly proved his worth for club and country in the past two seasons so it’s not a major surprise that he is being linked with a club like Atletico Madrid.

Jan Oblak is one of the best keepers in world football right now but his current deal expires in 2023 and if the financial woes are true then Atletico are not going to offer him a new deal at the club.

Martinez joined Villa last year from Arsenal and his current market value is £31 million, a price which Atletico should be able to pay – if they can sell Oblak for a decent price.

Despite having only two years left on his contract, Jan Oblak is valued at £63 million and we are pretty confident several major European clubs will be queueing up once he’s put up for sale.

Aston Villa had signed Emi Martinez will a long-term plan in mind so it will definitely not be so easy to convince them on a sale. But having said that, if the offer price is right then we doubt if Dean Smith’s side are going to play major hardball.
