Apart from Maguire and Dele Alli, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was one of the heroes of the quarterfinal clash against Sweden but how Jordan Pickford’s injury might be a cause of concern.

Yes, Pickford might have made a couple of fine saves during England’s 2-0 win over Sweden on Saturday and he was hailed by many as one of the best performers for Southgate’s side during the whole tournament.

But after the win against the Swede’s the England No 1 was seen leaving the dressing room with a heavy strapping on his left land which Immediately sent the media into a frenzy.




No sooner did the picture come out, a couple of reports even went to the length of claiming that Jordan Pickford’s injury was serious and he might be unavailable for the World Cup semi-final clash versus Croatia.




Now though, the England No 1 has finally cleared the air.

Pickford has revealed how he actually got the strange injury and whether he will be able to play against Croatia or not.




The 24-year-old said: “It was a daft injury by myself.

“I went to punch the floor but ended up punching my knee and hurt my thumb.

“It was a bit of anger. But I’m a man, not a mouse. I’m fine. I’ll live another day won’t I?”




Jordan was named the man of the match during the Sweden game and his potential absence for the semi-final would have been a huge problem for Gareth Southgate and his plans.

But finally, we know for sure the extent of Jordan Pickford’s injury and now the English fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
