Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season this past weekend as they lost their Premier League clash vs Tottenham Hotspur 3-1.

Apart from being the first defeat of the season, this was also the first time during the campaign that Maurizio Sarri’s team have looked so dysfunctional and disjointed.

The Chelsea midfield was in chaos from the very first whistle which helped Spurs boss the game and on top of that, the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger looked to on a totally different planet when the Spurs attackers came at them.

While many believe that David Luiz was one of the poorest Chelsea players on the pitch but some pundits have claimed that it was the inability of Jorginho in midfield which helped the Lilywhites take control of the game.

And now the Chelsea summer signing has finally spoken out about the defeat and the Italian has refused to single out one player for the blame.

“Our team was not as compact as it always is,” Jorginho said.

“The first pressure wasn’t being made, I believe it wasn’t being made.

“So the defensive line ended up going down a lot and our team got very stretched.”

The loss also meant Chelsea have now fallen further behind in the title race and are now seven points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.

And speaking about the title race, Jorginho refused to make any big claims.

“From the beginning, when you have City in the competition, it’s already difficult,” he added.

“But I don’t think we have to look ahead. We have to look at today, now, because there is much to improve, a lot to change.”

Chelsea take on PAOK in the Europa League this Thursday after which they get back into the Premier League when they host Fulham at home on Sunday.
