Liverpool take on Burnley at home in the Premier League this weekend and Jurgen Klopp will be urging his players to pick up a win.

The Reds are currently one point behind league leaders Manchester City but by the time they take on Burnley on Sunday that gap could go up to four points.

Jurgen Klopp will keep his fingers crossed but the manager has to deal with a number of key injuries going into this match.

On Wednesday, three key players missed training for Liverpool which indicated that all of them could miss Sunday’s clash vs Burnley.

Defender Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno along with midfielder James Milner did not take part in the training session at Melwood.

While the extent of Moreno’s injury is still not sure but James Milner had been suffering from hamstring pain and many people suggest that the midfielder’s omission from injury was just a precaution.

Moreno is not a key part of the first XI but the absence of Dejan Lovren could be a big blow for Klopp given that he is running short on defenders.

The manager would have loved to use Dejan Lovren this weekend and in turn, give a much-deserved rest to Joel Matip ahead of the crucial Champions League clash.

But it looks like Matip and Van Dijk will once again play in central defence against Burnley this weekend.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also on the verge of a return and Klopp is hopeful that he can the England international back before Liverpool take on Spurs at the end of March.

UPDATE:

Dejan Lovren has returned back to full-training and the latest reports suggest that the centre-back is likely to be named in the first Xi this weekend.

This means Joel Matip will drop down the bench and Dejan Lovren will partner Van Dijk in central defence.
