Both Chelsea and Manchester City are on the lookout for a new defender and as per the reports, they are keeping a close watch on Toby Alderweireld and his contract negotiations with Tottenham.

The 28-year-old joined Spurs in 2015 from Atletico Madrid for a fee of around £11.5 million but ever since the signing of Davinson Sanchez during the summer many are claiming that Pochettino might be willing to offload the player. The Belgian International’s current contract with the club runs out in 2020 and according to the Daily Mail new contract talks between the club and the player have broken down in the past few months.

Now Pochettino wants to have a conversation with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and then take the decision of selling the player. And as per the news, both Chelsea and Manchester City are waiting patiently on the sidelines in order to scoop up the player.

But having said that, the last thing that Pochettino would want to do is sell one of his top-rated defender to a direct rival like Chelsea. And this is where Pep Guardiola and his team have the upper hand.
