Man United vs Chelsea will be the highlight of the Premier League in midweek and both these sides are going through very different phases.

Chelsea picked up a win against West Ham United on Sunday but in terms of the league, they have nothing much to play for. Man United, are also in a totally different situation since things are much more gloomy at Old Trafford. After losing to Arsenal, the Red Devils have fallen more or less fallen out of the top-four race.

The Chelsea vs Man United game can still have some level of impact on the table since if the Blues lose then Arsenal will come within touching distance of Tuchel’s side. If United lose then their hope of securing a Europa League spot will also come under major doubt.

The previous three matches between these two sides have ended in a draw but with the kind of form that Man United are in right now, Chelsea are surely the favourites when they head to Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Man United vs Chelsea injury updates:

Manchester United:

Ralf Rangnick is going to miss some important players for the Man United vs Chelsea tie and the biggest of them will be Paul Pogba. Pogba has most likely played his final game of the season as he’s currently sidelined with a calf injury.

Luke Shaw underwent surgery recently so he too is ruled out from this midweek tie.

Fred will return to training this week meaning the midfielder should be fit in time to face the Blues. He will come straight back into the side, replacing Nemanja Matic.

Edinson Cavani is the other major injury absentee and his absence means Ronaldo will not get any rest. CR7 will anyways start against a team like Chelsea but with Cavani injured, Ralf Rangnick won’t have any backup.

Chelsea:

Thomas Tuchel also has a fairly big injury list and the names of Mateo Kovacic and Reece James are the most prominent ones.

Neither of these players are expected to be fit in time for the Man United vs Chelsea game but Antonio Rudiger should fully recover by Thursday.

Earlier, the Chelsea manager had revealed: “The plan is that he’s[Rudiger] back in training on Tuesday for Thursday, and hopefully, we can stick [that]. It is a groin in one leg and the other leg a bit the hamstring. Its muscle pain, not even an injury but a huge discomfort.”

Apart from these three, Hudson Odoi and Ben Chilwell are the long-term absentees for Chelsea.
