According to ESPN’s Paul Mariner, both Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest in signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

Lukaku has rejected a new contract at Everton which invariably means that he wants to leave the club in the summer. And according to Mariner, United and Chelsea could be the Belgian’s next possible destinations.

The former Arsenal player told ESPN that one of his close associates who is currently the sporting director at Everton has told him that the club has received bids from both United and Chelsea.

Lukaku

Everton are looking to make a huge splash in the transfer market this season, according to Mariner.

But according to various other reports, it is Cheslea who are currently the frontrunners in signing the Everton want-away man. Lukaku seems to have his heart set on a return to Stamford Bridge after leaving the club in 2014. Chelsea have supposedly agreed on personal terms with the Belgian. But the Blues are yet to make a formal offer to Everton.

Everton who now have no other option but to offload their star player are demanding somewhere in the region of £100 million for the striker. While on the other hand, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has already said that he does not wish to keep Diego Costa in the side next season. So as the current situation stands, Chelsea are without any kind of star striker in their line-up. And Lukaku seems to be a perfect fit

But with such a huge asking price Chelsea might just think twice before signing the player.
