According to a report in the Football Insider, Manchester City are no longer interested in signing Mason Mount which means Liverpool have moved to the front of the queue.

Mount has one year left on his current contract and Chelsea are trying really hard to make him sign a new deal. However, if the England international does not agree to the terms of the new contract then the Blues will put him up for sale at the end of this season.

Newcastle United and Manchester City have been keeping tabs on Mason Mount for some time now but as per the latest update, both teams will longer pursue a move for the 24-year-old

Liverpool are the other team who are interested in Mount so if Newcastle and Man City have both backed off then it’s great news for Jurgen Klopp. The manager has publicly admitted that he will be looking to sign players for the problematic areas in the squad.

Klopp has recently said: “We will bring in players who can help us, 100%. Usually, we got the players we wanted.

“If they are over priced then we can’t do it. That’s how it is. But I’m pretty sure we will bring in the players that we want.”

Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount are the two priorities for Liverpool right now and because budget will be a major factor, the Chelsea midfielder will be a much more sensible option for Klopp.

Mac Allister is valued at only €42 million but his contract expires in 2025 so Brighton won’t let him go for cheap. On the other hand, Mason Mount is valued at €65 million but he is set to be a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Thiago has had constant injury troubles this season so an upgrade is necessary and if no other big club want Mount then the England international will be a bargain buy.

It remains to be seen what Chelsea’s new manager wants to do with Mason Mount but they have a long list of midfielders so if the 24-year-old wants to leave then Todd Boehly won’t hold onto him beyond the summer.
