Arsenal FC are currently going through a really rough phase both on and off the pitch but many believe new boss Mikel Arteta is the man who will be able to pull them out of the hole.

The club chose to sack Unai Emery last month and appoint Mikel Arteta as their new boss and to be honest, things have started to look a tad bit brighter under the Spaniard.

Arsenal might not have been able to pick up wins in each one of their matches under their new boss but certainly, the players have been playing with a new-found vigour and endeavour which was lacking under the previous manager.

But the manager is also dealing with a series of major injury concerns which was further aggravated by the long-term injury to Calum Chambers.

Arsenal’s defence has looked shaky all throughout the current season and after the setback to Chambers, there’s no doubt that Mikel Arteta is in need of defensive reinforcements.

And while the manager had admitted that he has a plan for the January transfer window but he will only want to bring in new signings if the right ones pop up in the market.

“I have[a transfer wishlist], yes. You need to have one always, just in case!” Mikel Arteta admitted.

“Yes, but it has to be the right player, in the right context that financially we can compete and we can attract and all these factors if you put them together, are not easy in this market.

“We have a lot of issues at the back, the fact that Calum got the big injury is modifying our plans.

“It is what we have, the situation, it can happen between December and January, it is very common. We have to live with it, this is what we have. We have to put 11 players out on the pitch on Saturday and I am sure we will.

“They will try their best, and I will try to select the ones who in my opinion are the best fit for that game.”

Beating Sheffield United will not be a walk in the park for Mikel Arteta and his men but if they can manage to pick up all three points this weekend then it will surely a big confidence booster for the new manager since next up, the Gunners take on Chelsea away from home.
