Manchester United have ended their 2018-19 season with a 2-0 home defeat against relegated side Cardiff City.

And it is very much evident that Ole Solskjaer had to do a massive rebuilding job during the summer transfer window.

After the loss to Cardiff City, Solskjaer has now suffered eight defeats in his last 2 games in charge and surely the manager will be planning to bring in a couple of new faces for the next season.

A couple of days ago, Solskjaer had clearly admitted that a number of players from the current first team squad will not be staying with the club beyond the summer and already Ander Herrera has made it clear that he will be leaving.

But speaking about Man United’s preparations for the summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some real bold words to say which has been met with great positiveness from the Old Trafford faithful.

“They have all got their programmes to do over the summer. We expect them to be ready to go on the 1st July when we start,” said Solskjaer.

“We’re not going to use the first ten days to build them up, they should be ready to go.

“We have a longer summer break than any of the other challengers and have to use that as an advantage.

“It’s not like a threat – but whoever’s not ready on July 1 will probably stay here and not travel us on tour.

“We only want and need players we can use over there.

“…they all have individual programmes. Some need strength, some need cardiovascular stuff, it’s all different.

“You like to see yourself in the players and for me as a player, the last two weeks before we came into pre-season that was my time to try to get fit to impress the gaffer when I started back.”

Solskjaer has also claimed that anyone who fails to follow the rules during the pre-season preparations will automatically fall down the pecking order for the upcoming campaign.

“Definitely and it’s hard some times for the young kids. I’ve been in the reserves and we send them away saying ‘come on look after yourself’ because you never know what the manager is going to do when you come back after the summer,” Solskjaer added.

“Then I’ve seen some of the young lads who have a chance to go with the first team and they’ve come back in a state and they know who they are.

“They aren’t playing football anymore at the level they should be. They own their own fate to be fair.”
