Ousmane Dembele has turned out to be a major flop at Barcelona and the La Liga side have now asked the winger to secure an exit in the next few days.

The winger’s current deal expires in the summer and the club have already tabled a new contract. But it’s his crazy financial demands which are proving to be the problem for Barcelona right now.

The Barca board have made it clear that if he wishes to stay then he will have to put pen on paper to the proposed terms or he will have to look for a new club this month itself.

Barca’s director Mateu Alemany had recently said, as quoted: “We started negotiations with Dembele and his agents in July. Barcelona made different offers and tried to find a solution for the player to stay with us.

“Today, 20 January, 11 days before the last transfer window of his contract ends, it seems obvious that the player does not want to continue at Barca. And he is, therefore, not committed to the club’s future project.

“In this context, it was communicated to his agents and him that he must leave immediately because we want players committed to this project. It is hoped that a transfer will happen before January 31.”

As per a latest update, it’s being claimed that Barcelona are planning to bring in Adama Traore from Wolves and therefore have asked Ousmane Dembele to leave, in order to free up some wages.

Wat does Ousmane Dembele have to say about all of this?

The 24-year-old has time and again maintained that he wishes to play for Barcelona and even his agent has come out to claim that Ousmane Dembele is 100% committed to the new manager’s plans.

But, at the same time, he is not ready to reduce his wage demands and since Barcelona is under such a financial mess, the manager and the board are not ready to cave into such exorbitant demands.

Which clubs have shown an interest in Ousmane Dembele?

Ousmane Dembele has failed to impress ever since he joined Barcelona and over the past year, several big clubs have been linked with him.

Premier League sides like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all previously been linked with him and in the past few weeks, the names of Manchester City and Chelsea have also popped up.

Dembele’s career in Spain has been riddled with injuries as he’s played only 130 games for them since joining in 2017 but the top-six Premier League sides are still willing to take the gamble of signing him(mostly because he’s only 24 years old).

Some experts believe that with Traore heading to Barca, the Wolves boss could try and sign Dembele as a direct replacement.

Apart from these English sides, PSG have also expressed an interest in him this month.

Will Ousmane Dembele move out of Barcelona this month?

As per the reports doing the rounds in Spain, Barca will be able to register Adama Traore irrespective of what happens with Ousmane Dembele so even if the Frenchman does not leave, the La Liga side won’t be under too much pressure.

While several big clubs have been linked with Dembele this month we don’t think any one of them is ready to spend big money at this point in time. Most of these clubs are looking to patch minor issues in their squad so we don’t see them actively moving to sign the 24-year-old in the coming days.

Wolves are the only club who will have a genuine requirement of a winger once Adama Traore leaves but we doubt if Dembele will want to join a mid-table PL side who cannot offer him European football.

In the end, Ousmane Dembele could remain a Barcelona player on February 1.

UPDATE:

Barcelona have managed to secure a loan deal for Adama Traore as per Fabrizio Romano so now we wait and see what the future holds for Dembele.
