According to a report by the Manchester Evening News, Villarreal defender Pau Torres is keen to join Premier League giants Manchester United at the end of this season.
The report claims: “Villarreal defender Pau Torres would be interested in a move to Manchester United this summer.
“MEN Sport reported earlier in the month that United are one of the top sides currently looking into a possible move for Torres, 24, ahead of an uncertain transfer window.
It is believed Torres has a release clause in his current deal which lies in the region of €60million after he penned a contract extension until 2024 two years ago.”
Will Man United agree to sign Pau Torres on a player plus cash deal?
It’s no secret that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a world-class centre-back in the summer and Pau Torres could be the solution to all of the manager’s problems.
As per some rumours, Villarreal are willing to accept a player plus cash deal in exchange for the centre-back and this arrangement, if true, could put Man United in the driver’s seat.
Eric Bailly is not too happy warming the benches at Man United this season and if he wants to leave then Solskjaer will definitely look to use him as a counterweight for Pau Torres. But we will have to wait and see if the defender will want to rejoin the club from where he was signed back in 2016.

Man United can also afford to pay the asking price if needed, but Ole will be much more eager to wrap up this transfer by using a benchwarmer if possible.
Pau Torres is one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in La Liga right now and he’s also recently got a call-up for the Spanish national side. Victor Lindelof has been blowing hot and cold in central defence alongside Harry Maguire and the 24-year-old Villarreal man will be an upgrade, without a doubt.
