Chelsea travel to Old Trafford on Sunday in order to take on Man United and this is a really crunch game for Maurizio Sarri and his players.
The Blue lost a golden opportunity to open up a gap for the top-four challenge when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley.
Which now means that this clash vs Solskjaer’s men will be do-or-die for the London club.
Chelsea still have the chance of getting back into the Champions League by winning the Europa League this season but we doubt if Sarri would want to keep things hanging in the balance until the final day of the season.
While most people are placing their bets on a Chelsea win on Sunday, Paul Merson feels that it will be Manchester United who will come out on top.
‘I expect United to win, believe it or not,’ Merson told Sky Sports(via Metro).
‘I think Rashford will be too much for the Chelsea defence. I watch Chelsea, if [Eden] Hazard doesn’t turn up it’s difficult, or if teams keep him quiet. You’ve seen teams do it before.
‘I don’t think there’s a lot between the teams, [N’Golo] Kante being injured changes things, if he does play then they might have too much energy for United’s midfield but otherwise, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be moving out to the left, Jorginho is never going to get you a goal and [Mateo] Kovacic – I can’t remember when he last had a shot.
‘It’s just because of Rashford, no other reason, I think he’ll have too much for David Luiz and [Andreas] Christensen.’
Man United have now suffered two back to back defeats in the league – first against Everton and then in midweek vs Manchester City.
So naturally, it would take real mettle if Pogba and co want to pick up three points vs Chelsea on Sunday.
And especially with Man United’s defence all over the place at the moment, it wouldn’t come out as a surprise if Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain tear the likes of Smalling and Lindelof down to shreds.
