Man City were knocked out of the Champions League earlier this week as Spurs went past them courtesy of away goals and on the same night, their Premier League title contenders Liverpool breezed past Porto.

Jurgen Klopp’s men picked up a handsome win vs Porto and they will now take on Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

And Pep Guardiola feels there is a key factor which has helped Liverpool keep up the same level of energy for most of the current campaign.

As per the Man City boss, the fact that Liverpool exited the domestic tournaments pretty early on during the season has given then a lot of rest.

Guardiola said: “No, in these stages in November and December like Liverpool went out in the League Cup (to Chelsea) and FA Cup (to Wolves) early that’s an advantage for rest, not now.

“We didn’t have time to train specific things against Tottenham but that’s because we are in all competitions, it is what it is.

“What Liverpool can do against Cardiff, against Newcastle, I am not involved.

“These three games in one week against Tottenham, United and Burnley, and with the others, I don’t know. I cannot control it.”

Just a couple of months ago, everyone was putting their money on Manchester City to defend their Premier League crown but now a whole lot has changed.

Liverpool’s remaining games in the Premier League are mostly against easier opponents while Man City still have to play both Spurs and a derby versus Manchester United.

And many people believe, the Citizens could very well drop points during these games.
