David Turnbull was set to join Celtic FC from Motherwell this summer for a transfer fee of around £3.25 million – as per reports.

But late last month it was reported that the transfer had collapsed due to the fact that David Turnbull will now have to go through a surgery meaning he will be out for a significant amount of time.

“We will give David all the support he needs during this process,” read a statement from Motherwell(as reported by the BBC).

“We wish him the best with his procedure and rehabilitation, and look forward to watching him play in claret and amber again in the near future.”

The Bhoys also released a statement clarifying the whole situation.

Celtic’s official statement read(as reported): ‘It is unfortunate that we were not able to proceed with the transfer of David to Celtic, having agreed a significant fee with Motherwell and reaching an agreement with the player.

‘It is regrettable that David will be out of action for a considerable length of time and, clearly, these circumstances are totally outwith the club’s control. We did everything we could to find a solution.

‘We would like to thank David and his representatives for the professionalism they have shown throughout. We also thank Motherwell FC for the way they have handled this process.

‘We wish David all the very best with the operation and every success for the future.’

David Turnbull is currently recovering from surgery and some rumours have suggested that Rangers could now try and make a move for the midfielder this summer.

It is no secret that the Gers have kept an eye on the Motherwell man for a couple of years now and the rumour suggests that Steven Gerrard could try and use this opportunity to sign him up.

To be very honest these are just initial rumours which probably have no concrete basis but it would be surprising to see the Ibrox outfit making a move for David Turnbull given that his market price is currently at an all-time low.
