Rangers FC are on the verge of signing Steven Davis from Southampton and the deal is expected to be completed in the coming few days.
Davis spent four years with Rangers before heading to England to play for the Saints back in 2012. And now the central midfielder is heading back to Ibrox for a second stint.
And Southampton too have made little fuss over the whole transfer as the club have not taken a single penny from Rangers for a transfer of Steven Davis.
This move seemed to be very generous given Steven Davis was making a permanent move to Scotland.
But it seems this is not the case as recent reports are suggesting that Steven Davis will be joining the Gers only one a six-month loan spell and not on a permanent transfer.
Initially, it was thought that it was Southampton who did not a permanent transfer but that would not make any sense since Steven Davis is out of contract at the club during the summer.
Now reports are suggesting that it is the 34-year-old himself who has refused to commit his long-term future to Rangers.
Davis feels he still has what it takes to play in the English top flight hence he wants to keep his options open at the end of the season.
There is still a possibility that Steven Davis might sign a long-term deal with the Gers during the summer transfer window.
But this six-month loan deal is a clear indication that staying at Rangers for the next season is not a priority for the midfielder.
