Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC have had a woeful week first drawing against Hibernian in the Premiership and then going down 2-0 to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals replay.

The Gers had all to play for this past week but someone losses in most these games have really pushed them down the ladder.

Right now the Gers are eight points behind league leaders Celtic and most pundits believe the Bhoys will once again lift the Premiership trophy at the end of the season.

Some reports have claimed that Steven Gerrard is not making any fans after his team’s dismal run of form but now the Rangers boss has come out to make a statement for all those who are busy criticising him.

He said: “I’m well aware of the job I signed up for. I know after a few bad results pundits and keyboard wizards will always be there and that’s fine.

“It’s been tough since Aberdeen, not only have we gone out of a cup competition but there were not any positives.

“I’ve picked myself back up and I can guarantee you that I will improve personally moving forward.

“We have improved, the majority of players we have brought in have stood up, some haven’t and we will continue to improve the squad going forward.

“We are doing everything we can to make Rangers a winning team but it can’t happen overnight.

“There needed to be a squad overhaul when I arrived.

“There will be change and better players to add more quality but I don’t expect the same in terms of numbers, we need a bit of magic and a few key additions.”

Steven Gerrard started his managerial career at Rangers in fine form and during the first few weeks of the new season, there was a feeling that the Gers are about to get back their glory days.

But as the season has rolled along, Celtic have stamped their authority on the league and right now Rangers are just about fighting to stay in the hunt.

No one expects Steven Gerrard to be sacked right now but if things do not improve next season either then surely the management will start looking at other options.
