Rangers FC have brought his more than half a dozen signings during the summer transfer window and now manager Steven Gerrard is in the process of clearing all the dead wood from the locker room.

And amongst the players who have been tipped to make an exit is goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

Foderingham was the first choice keeper for the Light Blues last season but the signing of Allan McGregor clubbed with the sudden rise of Jak Alnwick means that if the 27-year-old chooses to stay at the club he will be the third choice keeper under Gerrard.

So the Rangers boss has made it clear to the shot-stopper that his services are no longer needed at the club. And immediately after this several reports started claiming that Ipswich Town were interested in signing the keeper.

The Championship side’s first choice keeper Bartosz Bialkowski was in the final year of his deal and many believed that the club would move for Foderingham in case they cannot hold onto Bialkowski.

Now though the hopes of selling off Wes Foderingham and gathering some much-needed cash have vaporized after news that Bialkowski has signed a new deal with Ipswich Town.

The 31-year-old has penned a new three year deal with the Championship outfit – with an option to extend for a further 24 months.

This is a huge setback for both Gerrard as well as the management given the fact that the club were planning to chop off all the unnecessary branches from their squad so that they do not have to deal with an inflated wage bill for the 2018-19 season.
