Rangers FC have signed youngster Umar Sadiq from AS Roma on a season-long loan deal but with players like Eduardo Herrera moving out of the club, Steven Gerrard needs to bring in one more striker.

The Gers currently have Sadiq and Alfredo Morelos as their attacking options but with no major backup striker, Gerrard will fall short if one of these players is out injured or cannot deliver.

The manager had recently claimed that even though signing an attacker is not his first priority but he will not sigh-away from bringing one in if the situation demands it.

And after Rangers’ stalemate against FC Shkupi at Macedonia, the fans have been urging the club to bring in a new striker.

According to football pundit Michael Stewart, the Light Blues should try and fight it out with Aberdeen for the services of 26-year-old Louis Moult.

Moult had a wonderful run with Motherwell – scoring 50 goals in just 98 games but ever since his move to Preston North End, the striker has been living in the shadows.

Louis Moult moved to the Championship side in January and ever since his return back to England, the striker has managed to score just 2 goals in 11 appearances at Deepdale.

Most of his appearances have been from the bench and now reports are suggesting that the 26-year-old wants to head back to Scotland.

Aberdeen are currently the frontrunners in signing Louis Moult as a long-term replacement to Adam Rooney but Stewart feels that the Light Blues should try and sign the striker.

Talking to BT Sports, Michael Stewart said: “For Rangers to look to improve and get further up the table then they need other options up there,

“At the moment, they look a little bit threadbare at the top end of the park.”

“There has been a lot of talk about Aberdeen and potentially Louis Moult. When you are looking at that level of investment then he’s definitely going to be an improvement to the squad at Rangers,”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is looking at the likes of Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi as the third attacking option but both these deals rest on the fact whether Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to let either of these players leave on a loan spell.
