Liverpool have just signed Alisson Becker from AS Roma for a fee of £65 million – making him the most expensive keeper in the world. And with that signing, the Merseyside outfit have taken their total spending to £176 million under the German manager.

Apart from the Brazilian keeper, the club have also splashed cash on the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita and in doing so have faced the wrath of the Manchester United fans.

When Jose Mourinho acquired Paul Pogba from Juventus for a then world record fee of £89 million, Jurgen Klopp was pretty vocal about the transfer.

The Liverpool manager clearly stated that he was against spending so much money in the transfer market and will never do it at Anfield.

But now with a number of crazy spending, the Liverpool boss has been forced to swallow his earlier comments.

Klopp said‘Did I change my opinion? Yes,

‘It’s better to change your opinion than not have one at all. That’s a problem, whatever bull**** you say, no one will forget it.

‘It’s still kind of true. I couldn’t have imagined the world could have changed. £100m was a crazy number but since then the world changed.

‘We signed the most expensive goalkeeper [Alisson], bam bam, there will be a few nice transfers [by other clubs].

‘It’s not about pushing through my thoughts on that and not paying big money if LFC aren’t successful we have to work.

‘To improve a squad like this costs money. So far it’s a really good year for us, pretty successful last year, still we need to replace players – Emre Can left, good business bringing Fabinho in.

‘Shaqiri, we saw him play in the World Cup, I know Stoke were relegated but he had a lot of good games.

‘We don’t care what the world thinks like Manchester United didn’t care what I thought [in 2016].’

And to be fair to Jurgen Klopp, not everyone predicted that the market would turn crazy so quickly.

But then, if you are Jose Mourinho then it’s a whole lot different.

When the whole world was acquiring the Man United boss of spending way too much for the services of Paul Pogba, Mourinho famously went on to say that in a couple of seasons, the £89 million price tag for Paul Pogba would look like a bargain.
