Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has been struggling to find a top quality number 10 ever since he took charge of the club last summer.
But now it looks like the manager’s hunt is about to come to an end.
If reports are to be believed then the Gers are planning to make a move for Hamburg attacking midfielder Lewis Holtby.
Holtby started his career in Germany but the 28-year-old has spent a fair share of his professional time in England playing for clubs like Spurs and Fulham.
But in 2015, the attacking midfielder joined Hamburg from Spurs and since then Holtby has been a key figure for the German side.
During the 2018-19 season, Lewis Holtby has played in 27 games for the second tier side scoring five goals and providing six assists but the 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season.
There is no indication that Holtby will be signing a new deal with Hamburg which has further spiked the interest of Rangers FC.
Steven Gerrard knows that if he can lure in the attacking midfielder to Ibrox during the summer then it would be a stunning piece of business and Lewis can finally solve the long-standing No 10 problem.
This interest though is still in its initial stages and we will have to wait and see until the end of the season but reckoning, the Hamburg man is available for free, the Rangers boss should make a move for him.
