Real stumble again

Madrid lost to Sevilla during the weekend and the defeat, in turn, ended their 40 match unbeaten streak. That defeat was marred with controversies as Sevilla fan hurdled one abuse after another at Sergio Ramos.

Real were just finding their feet after that match and to jolt them another blow, Celta Vigo defeated them 2-1 in the Copa Del Rey. This turned out to be a double blow as they suffered back to back defeats just after their impressive 8 month unbeaten streak.

It was a night to forget for Cristiano Ronaldo as it was easily one of his bad performances in recent memory. He was totally uninfluential during the match, even though he had a penalty claim but it did not materialise into anything.

Celta Vigo took the lead in the 64th minute after Iago Aspas capitalised on a mistake by Marcelo. But Marcelo quickly made amends as he brought Real back into the game with a lovely volley to make it 1-1. But they had absolutely no time to celebrate as Celta Vigo got back their lead within the very next minute thanks to Jonny Castro. This time assisted by Iago Aspas. Real absolutely dominated the game in every stat possible but the scoreline tells a completely different story.

Celta Vigo host Real Madrid in the return leg on the 26th of Jan. Real will be travelling to the Estadio de Balaidos with a one goal deficit. But before that Real host Malaga in the La Liga this weekend. On the other hand, after this win Celta Vigo as now unbeaten in their last five games and they would love to face Real again at the back of such an amazing run.
