Scott McTominay made his debut for Manchester United last season under Jose Mourinho and right now he is one of the most important players in the squad.

During the 2019-20 season, the midfielder has featured in 14 games in the Premier League and in the games he hasn’t, Solskjaer has clearly felt his absence.

Scott McTominay missed a few games last month with an injury and immediately Man United looked lacklustre in and around the midfield area.

But he made his return to the first XI against Spurs and after the match, Solskjaer admitted that the Scottish international was currently undroppable.

The manager said: “You can almost say he [McTominay] is undroppable at the moment. I wasn’t gonna try to push him through for this game. The physical presence he gives us, the leadership he gives us in midfield also releases Fred.

“He was absolutely top class, you didn’t expect anything else, because [I] see a boy doing everything right every single day in training, and he prepares properly and they’re the boys you wanna have in the team. He’s so professional, he’s not tainted by any superstar or fame, he just wants to become the best footballer he can be, and that’s the people I want in this club.

“He would’ve suited my squad when I played, he would’ve fit right in that squad because he’s come through the academy. He’s one of ours. He’s one of the locals and knows what Man United means.”

And now if reports are to be believed then Man United are willing to put their faith on Scott McTominay in the long run by offering him a new £60,000-a-week contract.

Scott McTominay signed a new deal back in January under the terms of which he currently earns £30,000-a-week and is tied to the club until 2023.

But as per the rumours, the updated contract will not only double his current wages but will also keep him at Man United until 2025 with an option of a further 12-months.

A United insider said[as quoted by The Sun]: “It’s fair to say we are delighted with how Scott has responded to signing his first big contract.

“Some players tail off but he has got his head down and justified the faith the club have shown in him.

“We have always made it clear the big money will come if the younger players perform, they don’t need to be looking enviously elsewhere for it.

“Scott is a prime example of someone who has taken his chance when it came and we will recognise his elevated status.”
