Manchester United might be running the risk of losing one of the best midfielders, Scott McTominay, according to club legend Brian McClair.

While talking to Superstar Speakers, McClair not only praised the academy lad but has also warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that big clubs might come calling for him pretty soon.

“I think Scott McTominay if he stays at Manchester United, will be a great player for Manchester United,” McClair told Superstar Speakers, as reported by Mirror.

“It’s a similar thing to Darren Fletcher. He’s come through the youth system, he wants it, he’s a Manchester United fan, he’s determined.

“He’s overcome several situations with regards to growth spurts, injury and illness. I think he can be a Manchester United great.

“I hope that he remains at Manchester United for long enough for that to occur but it would not surprise me if there were other clubs looking to recruit him in the not too distant future.”

Will Man United lose Scott McTominay?

The future is really hard to predict but as things stand, Scott McTominay is fully committed to Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has full faith on the youngster and him along with Fred have been a key part of the Man United starting line-up this season, especially in the absence of Paul Pogba.

Despite an injury, Scott McTominay has featured in 20 Premier League games for the Old Trafford outfit and has managed to score four goals, including a superb long-ranger vs Manchester City.

The youngster’s current deal expires in 2023 but Man United do have an option to extend it for a further year. And we think the Old Trafford hierarchy know fully well how important a player Scott McTominay is going to be for the club which is why they could start talks over a new contract as early as next year.
