Former Man United manager Louis Van Gaal had recently given an interview in which he was his candid self.

The Dutchman took charge of Man United in the summer of 2014 and after managing 103 games for the club, the former Barcelona manager was sacked by the Red Devils in 2016.

This sacking came immediately after Van Gaal delivered the FA Cup and so naturally during this recent interview there was a lot of venom which was spurted out against his former club.

But amongst all this, Van Gaal also talked about the team which could win the Champions League this season.

And no, he did not expect a team like Juventus or Barcelona to lift the trophy but instead Van Gaal named two Premier League clubs.

Van Gaal said: “People think Barcelona are the best but they are not.

“Manchester City and Liverpool are more of a team than Barcelona – and Liverpool are more of a team than City.

“In my philosophy, the best team shall win but I hope for City because they play the best football.”

The former Man United manager clearly feels the likes of Barcelona and Juventus are driven by a few great players whereas Liverpool and Man City are more of a cohesive unit this season.

Man City are obviously chasing that famed quadruple this season while Liverpool are currently a bit tied between winning the Champions League and the Premier League.

While most people from the Liverpool camp have claimed that both these tournaments hold a great value but almost everyone knows that winning the Premier League is a tad bit important for the Anfield outfit – especially when they have come so close.
