West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has been one of the key players for David Moyes’ side this season in the Premier League but with each good game, the rumours of his exit are picking up even more wind.

Clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Rice and Lampard almost signed the England international during the summer transfer window.

Somehow, the Hammers managed to hold onto Declan Rice for one season but with the kind of performances he’s been putting in, many pundits think the player might be heading out of the club during the January transfer window.

Hammers fan and actor Ray Winstone has urged the youngster to remain at the club in order to follow in the footsteps of Bobby Moore.

“Whatever the boy’s on there, it’s not enough,” Winstone told Thursday’s talkSPORT. “You want to keep that boy and build a team around him.

“If he was to stay there he’d become another Bobby Moore. He’d be a legend.

“He’s a big fish in a small pond in a way but there’s no reason why the club can’t become a big club. If he goes to a team like Chelsea he’s not necessarily going to play every week.”

Winstone clearly understands the worth of Declan Rice but we don’t think the midfielder will be eager to remain at the London Stadium for too long.

In order to take the next leap in his career he will have to join a top six Premier League club – if not in January then at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Chelsea are not likely to make a move for Rice during the middle of the season which could help Manchester United perform a coup, especially since Paul Pogba is now on the verge of moving out of the club.

While West Ham United are in no hurry to offload their biggest asset but if a massive offer comes by then we don’t think David Moyes will be foolish enough to hold onto him.
