Chelsea are in all sorts of trouble right now and with each poor result, the pressure is mounting on Graham Potter. There are rumours that the board is losing their faith in the manager and some are also claiming that the hunt for the next Chelsea manager has already begun.
The Blues have been in really poor form this season and despite spending so much money in the summer and in January, they have managed to win just eight out of their 24 Premier League games.
They are winless in their previous six matches in all competitions and this weekend, they went down 2-0 to London rival Spurs.
Despite a poor performance from the players, Graham Potter was quick to shoulder all the blame after the defeat and most people think that the manager’s time at the club is due to come to an end very soon.
“I know the responsibility,” he told Sky Sports(h/t Standard). “It’s not good enough for this club. I take full responsibility for those results. It isn’t good enough for Chelsea.
“I know the personality and quality in the team. A tough period of time. Confidence isn’t massively high.
“[Pressure] is the same in any job anywhere. If results aren’t good enough, which they aren’t, you can’t rely on support forever. My job is to keep going.”
There have also been rumours that the players are slowly losing faith in the new manager but according to Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian, the board as well as Boehly are still backing Potter.
Next Chelsea manager:
As of now, it seems like Graham Potter is not going to be sacked but that does not mean that he is not under pressure. Todd Boehly has spent crazy amounts of money to sign new players so he will definitely want results soon or later.
Backing him for two or three matches is one thing but we don’t think Potter will be given time until the end of this season. If he cannot bring about a positive change within the next couple of matches then we are certain that he will be shown the door.
Currently, it’s Mauricio Pochettino and Zidane who are the bookmakers’ favourites to become the next Chelsea manager while the names of Jose Mourinho and Simeone are also doing the rounds.
Pochettino will very eagerly take charge of a team like Chelsea because he is itching to prove himself after his failure with PSG. He has lots of experience managing in the Premier League which is why Poch won’t take any time to settle down.
Zidane has been out of a job since leaving Real Madrid in 2021 and experts that he is also keen to return to management. The Blues are ready to pay £13.1 million a year for the French legend and someone like him can easily take Chelsea back to the top.
Some people believe that Thomas Tuchel should be brought back as the next Chelsea manager but there’s no way that he is going to come back and take charge.
