Scottish side Celtic FC have been linked with Sporting full-back Valentin Rosier for some time but it looks like the Bhoys have decided to back off.

Celtic were amongst a number of clubs who had keeping tabs on the 24-year-old but according to a report by Sabah, Valentin Rosier wants to join Besiktas, the club where was on loan during the 2020-21 season.

The report claims: “Beşiktaş have come very close to an agreement with Sporting regarding Valentin Rosier, who played on loan last season.

“The French football player, who came to the agenda of Lazio, Marseille and Celtic FC, conveyed that he wanted to play in Beşiktaş to the officials of the Portuguese club, and Sporting Lisbon acted accordingly in the transfer case.

“Continuing its negotiations with Sporting, Beşiktaş wants to finish this transfer in the coming days and train Rosier for the training to be held on July 5th.

“Celtic, who was interested in this football player, ended the negotiations because the player wanted to go to Beşiktaş.”

Celtic FC badly need a new right-back before the new season begins and someone like Valentin Rosier would have been a perfect signing, especially after his successful loan spell with Besiktas last campaign.

But the 24-year-old wants to join the Turkish side permanently because he wants to play in the Champions League next season.

Postecoglou’s side have been linked with a series of right-backs all throughout the summer so if they cannot get their hands on Rosier they should quickly move onto their next target.
