Arsenal had faced Brentford in the opening weekend of this Premier League season and the Gunners ended up losing that match 2-0. These two teams will once again face each other on Saturday.

Just a few weeks ago, Arsenal were miles away from a top-four spot but suddenly they are one of the favourites to recapture the final Champions League position. They are four points behind the fourth spot and they still have three more games in hand.

On paper, the North London side are the favourites to win on Saturday but the Bees have caused problems to several big sides this season. Michael Owen though believes Arsenal should be able to pick up a win, primarily because they have only the Premier League to focus on and in recent weeks they have been really challenging to beat.

He wrote for BetVictor: “Top four looks very achievable now for Arsenal. I don’t think they have the biggest of squads, but they only have the league to focus on between now and the end of the season. They don’t score many, but they’ve been hard to beat in recent weeks, keeping clean sheets in their last two.

“As for Brentford, that was a crucial point against Palace last week. It ends the losing streak and puts another point between them and the bottom three.

“Their form obviously hasn’t been good, but the bottom three are struggling to pick up wins. If they can find a few wins between now and the end of the season, that will be enough to stay up.

“I don’t think Arsenal will score loads here, but I do think they will win. 2-0 to Arsenal.”

Brentford has seen a slump in form, losing four and drawing one out of their previous five league outings and at the same time, the Gunners have started pickup up points in recent weeks.

The Bees can make it a league double vs the North London side but this Arsenal team is not the same as the one they faced on the second week of August.

Arsenal will be breathing down the necks of Man United and West Ham if they beat Brentford but we have a feeling the Gunners will blunder on Saturday. Mikel Arteta did not see the arrival of any player last month and to make things worse, he sold a handful of his first-team players. The manager has a very thin squad so he can’t afford to shake things up at will. If his starting XI fails to find a way past the Brentford defence then Arteta will struggle to put on top quality reinforcements.
