David Moyes West Ham United

West Ham United take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend and David Moyes has confirmed that Kurt Zouma will be available for this clash.

In the past few weeks, Kurt Zouma has been under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons and he missed the Leicester game due to a stomach illness. The defender though has made a full recovery and is likely to start on Saturday.

The manager confirmed in his press conference: “He’s better, but it’s taken him a couple of days to get over it.

“He had a quite bad sickness, an illness, but he’s trained the last couple of days so I’m hoping that he’ll be available.”

Issa Diop played in central defence in the absence of Kurt Zouma but now that he is back, the ex-Chelsea man will come straight back into the first XI.

While Zouma’s return is great news, David Moyes has very cheekily admitted that not all his players are 100% fit, just like any other side so there are bound to be a few hiccups down the road in the coming months.

Moyes said: “We’ve got one or two doubts and one or two question marks over some players who have picked up some injuries.

“Obviously I wouldn’t give who away, but like every other club, we’ve got one or two injuries at the moment.

“All clubs will have knocks now. I don’t want to focus on it. We’ve just got one or two people who are a little bit of a doubt. We just need to make sure we can be ready for tomorrow.”

Newcastle United have been in great form in the previous few weeks so West Ham United surely have their work cut out, especially if their players are fatigued.

The Hammers are fighting for a Champions League spot so they need to keep winning games and the return of Kurt Zouma will be a big plus towards achieving that target. But having said that, the Magpies have suddenly shifted gears and it won’t be a surprise if they can manage to pick up points on Saturday as well.
