Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as per the Telegraph, but talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, Arsenal still have a chance to sign the forward.
The Gunners have been keeping tabs on DCL since January but over the previous few weeks these links have dried up with Newcastle United coming to the forefront. However, Crook believes Arsenal remain interested in the Everton man and they will come in with an offer this summer.
When asked if Eddie Howe will make a move for Calvert-Lewin, Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “Yes, I can see that. The problem he’s got is that the goals dried up a bit, obviously, since he’s been injured for large spells of the season.
“I think the loss to Brentford was the first time he scored from open play in the Premier League since August and I think he was a shoo-in to go to Arsenal until that happened. I think they are still keen.
“It might be difficult for Newcastle, if Arsenal were to offer him a deal, to compete with that.”
Will the Everton man choose Arsenal or Newcastle United?
Arsenal have sold Aubameyang plus Nketiah and Lacazette will leave in the coming weeks so if Dominic Calvert-Lewin chooses to join them then he will move into the first XI without any major competition.

Having said that, Newcastle United, under their new owners and manager are a club on the rise and during the second half of the season, the Magpies have done remarkably well.
If he wants to get a massive pay rise then he has to choose a move to St James’ Park but at Arsenal, he will have a chance to play in the Europa League next season.
The Gunners narrowly missed out on Champions League football but the club will go all out to be in the top-four next time around. Newcastle’s ultimate dream is to also play in the UCL but there’s no guarantee when they will be able to compete for that.
Will Arsenal and NUFC go all out to sign DCL?
Arsenal will definitely knock on Everton’s door but they are also trying to get their hands on Gabriel Jesus and if that done moves quicker then the Gunners will give up their interest in Calvert-Lewin.
Jesus has been in much better form for Manchester City this season and any day he will be a better signing than the Everton forward. He is not going to sign a new deal with City and is looking to move out in the summer.
If Arsenal get their hands on Gabriel Jesus then Newcastle United might be running a one-horse race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
