Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech was brought in to add more flair into the attacking third but the 28-year-old has not been at the top of this game this season. And maybe this is why the Blues are not ruling out his sale this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The report claims: “European champions Chelsea are at the centre of numerous transfer market rumours also linked to Ziyech’s future.

“Ziyech came strongly in the sights of Napoli after the official status of Luciano Spalletti. Should there be movements in attack, in particular linked to Lorenzo Insigne or Hirving Lozano, the Chelsea forward would become one of the very first names in the Neapolitan shortlist.

“To date, there is nothing concrete for the 28-year-old, at least as far as Italy is concerned. Chelsea, for its part, has not yet ruled on the transferability of Ziyech, unlike what happened for other players in the squad, considered expendable to finance the incoming market.”

Will Hakim Ziyech be offloaded this summer?

Hakim Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax last summer but the Moroccon has failed to stamp his authority at the Premier League club.

During the 2020-21 season, Ziyech featured in 23 league matches but managed to score only two goals and provide three assists.

If normal sense prevails then we don’t think Chelsea will be too eager to sell off Hakim Ziyech after just a single season but with AC Milan and Napoli interest in him, it will also not be a big surprise if Thomas Tuchel agrees to part ways with him.

Tuchel primarily uses a 3-4-2-1 system meaning players like Mason Mount, Werner and Pulisic can all do the same job that Hakim Ziyech can perform so there’s no major importance for the Ajax man right now.

The Chelsea manager is keen to add some reinforcements this summer and while Roman Abramovich should back him in the transfer market but before the new players can arrive, Tuchel will have to free up locker room space by selling the unwanted players.

And playing just 39 games this season for Chelsea, Hakim Ziyech is in no ways the most influential player in the first-team squad right now.

Chelsea paid £36 million for the 28-year-old and he still has four years left on his current deal so ideally, the Blues will want anywhere around £45-55 million for his sale. And this is what could prove to be a major stumbling block for teams like AC Milan and Napoli.
