England take on Germany in the Round of 16 of the European Championship and pundit Jamie Redknapp wants Jack Grealish to get a starting role.

The 25-year-old started on the bench for England in their first two group games but with Mason Mount missing, Gareth Southgate named the Aston Villa man in the first XI against the Czech Republic.

And in that 1-0 win, Grealish was hands the most influential player in the England team and according to Jamie Redknapp, there’s no way the 25-year-old should be put on the bench when the Three Lions face Germany.

He told Sky Sports: “Don’t see how we can not play Jack Grealish in the next game against Germany.

“Part of playing for your country and for England is can you handle the fear of giving the ball away and can you want the ball at all times.

“In the first 45 minutes or hour that Jack Grealish was on the pitch, he made more happen than a lot of the other midfield players have in all the games.

“Gareth has gotta get him into the team. We need someone who’s going to make things happen against Germany.

“And if it’s Grealish and Mason Mount playing together, if I was one of the midfield players playing for Germany, I’d be nervous about it.”

Will Jack Grealish get a start for England vs Germany?

Mason Mount was unavailable for the Czech Republic game as he had to remain in isolation and there are doubts if he will be available for the Germany game or not.

If Mount is not available then Jack Grealish becomes an automatic selection in that No 10 role for England against Germany.

But if the Chelsea midfielder is ready to start then Gareth Southgate will have a decision to make.

Grealish is ideally a left-winger so if Mason Mount is playing then the Villa man will have to operate on the left flank(given that he is selected). And this would mean Raheem Sterling will have to sacrifice his position.

The Manchester City man scored England’s only goal against the Czech Republic so he will be moved to the right wing, a position where young Bukayo Saka flourished in their previous match.

Many pundits have urged the England boss to keep Saka in the side for the Round of 16 game but if Mason Mount and Jack Grealish are both playing then the Arsenal youngster will definitely be sacrificed. But, if Mount is not available then Saka has a great chance of playing against Germany.
