Man United beat Man City in sensational style last weekend in the Premier League but then they went on to draw their Europa League game 1-1 in midweek.

It seems like all the momentum they had gained from the Derby win has evaporated and this could mean that United might drop even more points when they face West Ham United on Sunday.

The Red Devils have won just two out of their previous five league matches and if they fail to beat West Ham United then they could slip down from that second spot on the table, as Leicester are breathing down their necks.

Mark Lawrenson while predicting the result for the BBC has claimed that Man United will come out as eventual winners on Sunday but the Hammers are surely going to pose some really challenging questions.

“Manchester United’s win at Manchester City was a great result, and they got it with their best performance of the season,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“West Ham will bring a different sort of problem for United, though, and it is one that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have not always solved this season.

“Rather than going at them, like City did, the Hammers will sit in and United will have to take the game to them.

“The Hammers carry plenty of attacking threat too, though, and both sides will be full of confidence. It could be very close, but I’m expecting it to be much livelier than when West Ham came to Old Trafford in the FA Cup last month.”

West Ham United will play totally opposite to what Man City tried last week and Ole’s side have found it really hard to break down sides who tend to defend deep.

Man United are superb on the counter-attack but on Sunday they are going to be without Martial, Cavani and even Rashford so players like Greenwood and Fernandes will have to make sure that they do not let the momentum swing West Ham’s way.

Given how uncertain Man United’s form has been this season, we just can’t name Solskjaer’s side as the outright favourites this weekend but overall, they have the superior quality of players so the home side should be coming out of this match with all three points.
