Is this why Arsenal have scrapped their interest in this 24 Y/O midfielder?

Brighton and Hove Albion

Arsenal have been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma but it seems like the Gunners are no longer interested in the 24-year-old.

With Granit Xhaka being eyed by Jose Mourinho for AS Roma and Torreira and Guendouzi set to leave, someone like Yves Bissouma would have been the perfect alternative next season.

Instead, Arsenal have now shifted their focus to Wolves man Ruben Neves and are planning to launch a bid for him. Neves is in no ways a bad player but if Fabrizio Romano’s words are anything to go by the Liverpool’s interest in Bissouma might have forced Arsenal to back out.

He said in his Here We Go Podcast: “There are a lot of rumours about Bissouma. Just to clarify, Bissouma is a fantastic player for Brighton.

“He is one of the players on the list for Arsenal but is not at the first position. Talking about Liverpool, they are scouting him because they consider him like an interesting player for the future but there are no bids, no negotiations for Liverpool.

“They are not (actively) working to sign Bissouma – scouting is one thing. Signing him is another thing.”

Liverpool are looking for a long-term placement to Gini Wijnaldum next season which is why they have also been linked with Yves Bissouma for some time now.

And we feel since Liverpool have gotten involved in this, Arsenal chose to move to a lane where there is less traffic.

It’s still unclear if Liverpool will make a move for Yves Bissouma or not but since James Ward-Prowse(another target for Klopp) could be joining Aston Villa, Jurgen Klopp could very well sanction a bid for the Brighton man in the coming weeks.

And now with Arsenal fully focused on Neves, the Anfield outfit will be running a one-horse race in the pursuit of the Mali international.
