Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard is desperate to hold onto Alfredo Morelos since his side could be in Europe next season. But we doubt if his wish will be fulfilled.

Morelos has been the standout performer for the Gers in the past few seasons and FC Porto happen to be the latest club interested in signing him up.

Last year, Rangers managed to fend off multiple suitors who were willing to pay €16-20 million for the services of the South American but this time around, the SPFL side seem to have given up.

Sport Witness have cited multiple reports in Portugal which claim that Alfredo Morelos leaving Scotland seems inevitable and the only thing holding up the move is the lack of a definitive transfer fee.

According to one report, FC Porto have been told by Morelos’ agent that they will need to €12 million to be able to sign the striker this summer.

Another report from Portugal are singing in a similar tune saying that Alfredo Morelos is eager to move out meaning Rangers will have to cash in.

Sport Witness then goes on to add that Record are claiming Rangers want not €12m but €16 million to let the Colombian leave.

So, with all these various reports, it’s pretty clear that Rangers are more than ready to sell Alfredo Morelos but they are hoping to get as much money out of this deal as possible.

Ranger should have been sensible enough and let Morelos leave last summer but now that he has only two years left on his current deal, the Gers have lost all the bargaining power.
