Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has turned himself into one of the most important players in the starting XI this season and according to the Daily Mail, the academy graduate is set to be rewarded with a new and improved contract.

The report claims: “Emile Smith Rowe will be rewarded with a bumper new contract as he emerges as Arsenal’s latest young star.

“The 20-year-old has played a key role in the Gunners’ revival in recent weeks and is currently central to Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans.

“Smith Rowe earns in the region of £15,000 a week but he can expect a significant pay increase, though Arsenal could look to stagger that in relation to the fans’ return.

“Fellow academy graduate Bukayo Saka committed his future to the club earlier this season, signing a new deal worth close to £40,000 a week, and Smith Rowe can expect a similar salary.”

After moving around Europe on a couple of loan spells, it seems like Emile Smith Rowe has finally found his place in the Arsenal first-team. And now with Mesut Ozil out of the club, the 20-year-old could be the first-choice playmaker at the club.

Smith Rowe has two years left on his current deal with the Gunners but Mikel Arteta knows very well that wages of £15,000 a week are peanuts in today’s day and age.

It’s not a surprise that Arsenal are offering him a massive upgrade under the terms of the new deal but we don’t think Arteta is ready to lay his faith on the youngster just yet.

Multiple rumours have suggested that the EPL side are out in the market for a creative midfielder and they have been linked with players like Christian Eriksen and Houssem Aouar during the ongoing transfer window.

The Arsenal boss is keen to add a new playmaker to his side for the remainder of the 2020-21 season meaning Emile Smith Rowe might very fall down the pecking order at the Emirates by the end of this month.

This campaign, Smith Rowe has played in five Premier League games for the Gunners, providing three assists but with the Gunners still active in the Europa League and the FA Cup, the 20-year-old could get a significant amount of game time.
