Bernardo Silva wanted by Barcelona
Bernardo Silva

Manchester City are planning to offload playmaker Bernardo Silva once they bring Jack Grealish on board, according to The Express.

At the time of writing this, Man City are yet to formalize the signing of the Aston Villa winger but almost all the major publications in England are saying that Grealish should join City sometime in the next 24 hours.

And once this deal goes through, Guardiola will reportedly have no use of Bernardo Silva next season.

The Express cites The Athletic writing: “A report from the Athletic indicates that Pep Guardiola sees Grealish as a prime candidate to enter City’s centre-midfield rotation, in competition with Ilkay Gundogan.

“The same report also states that Bernardo could be a transfer casualty as a result, a departure which would both make room for Grealish and offset the mammoth investment the club are about to make.

“It is claimed that City are expecting Silva to leave this summer. Although no decisive approaches have been made for the Portuguese just yet, his abundant technical ability has made him a household name in the Premier League.”

A good idea to cash in on Bernardo Silva?

Jack Grealish is ideally a left winger but he is equally capable of playing in the attacking midfielder’s role.

And since Guardiola is willing to sacrifice Bernardo Silva after Grealish’s arrival, it’s safe to predict that the Man City boss plans to use the England international in the No 10 role.

During the 18/19 season, Silva was one of the key figure’s in helping Man City lift the Premier League title but last campaign, he was pushed towards the periphery.

It wouldn’t be a big surprise if City do decide to cash in on the Portuguese international this summer but as of now, no offers have come in for him.

Currently, Bernardo Silva is valued at £63 million and he still has four more years on his contract. So, the Citizens can expect to get a hefty fee out of this sale which will help them recoup a large chunk of the money they are paying for Jack Grealish.
