After officially wrapping up the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea were supposed to shift their focus to West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

Rice has been on Chelsea’s radar for a really long time and some rumours had claimed that the Blues will finally be able to get their hands on the defensive midfielder this summer.

But according to first-team coach Stuart Pearce, the Hammers are likely to reject any offers for Declan Rice this ongoing transfer window.

Pearce told the Sports Breakfast: “Of course we are[rejecting offers for Declan Rice], don’t be so ridiculous… He’s one of our best players!

“We might even have a nibble at Messi, put that in your headline why don’t ya!”

Chelsea have already spent around £200 million(including the signing of Havertz) and Declan Rice was reckoned to be the next big addition to the side.

But it seems like the Stamford Bridge outfit will miss out on the youngster once again since the Hammers are in no mood to part ways with the England international any time soon.

West Ham United do need money to bring in new players for the upcoming Premier League season so if Chelsea can make a crazy bid for Rice then David Moyes might just be forced to part ways with him.

But we do not think the Blues can afford to make such a bold move especially after making so many big signings and the fact that they also need to rope in a new keeper this transfer window.

Declan Rice still has four years left on his current deal at the London Stadium so in theory, Moyes is in no hurry to offload the 21-year-old.
