Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the biggest asset that Everton have in their first-team squad but it seems like the Toffees are already willing to cash in on him.

Recently, Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old as a replacement to their current centre-forward Alexandre Lacazette. And according to Duncan Castles, Everton are willing to let him leave if they get a good enough offer.

“Normally you would think when you have a player of that type, you’d want to do everything to retain him,” Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast, as quoted by The Express.

“But actually the guidance I have is there is a sense within Everton that Calvert-Lewin is very valuable and they wonder whether he’s reached the peak of his development.

“Now my personal view, and it’s not relevant, is I see him as still improving, I like what I see. But the experts within Everton have a sense that perhaps he’s reached his peak and if they’re going to cash in on the player, this is the time to do it.

“And if they get a good offer this summer, then they would seriously consider selling him.

“So I think it’s one to definitely pay attention to.”

Will Arsenal be able to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2016 for a fee of just £1.62m and in these five years, the forward has turned himself into one of the most prolific goalscorers in the Premier League.

The fact that Everton are ready to cash in on the forward will be great news for Arsenal but the Gunners have to be ready to shell out a lot of money if they want to get their hands on the 24-year-old.

According to TransferMarkt, DCL is valued at £40.5 million and has four more years left on his current deal so we can expect all sorts of crazy quotes from Everton.

Arsenal should be able to bring in some funds from the sale of Lacazette but we are not sure if that singularly will be enough to sponsor the transfer of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Also, another major obstacle for Arsenal will be the fact that they do not have European football to offer to the striker and now the Everton are willing to sell him, we are sure a number of other clubs will be queuing up as well.

And if the big English clubs coming calling then there’s no way the North London side will be able to survive in this transfer race.

During the 2020-21 season, the England international played in 33 league games for the Toffees, scoring 16 goals.
