Liverpool dropped points once again and this time it was Everton who held their Merseyside rivals to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.

The draw means that the Reds have now dropped down to the second spot on the league table – one point behind leaders Manchester City.

And while the attackers for Liverpool were a bit wasteful but it was Virgil Van Dijk who had a rock solid game.

The Dutchman has been superb for the Anfield outfit ever since his move from Southampton and vs Everton, he was literally rocking on his armchair.

Virgil Van Dijk not only met with ever ariel ball that was directed towards him, but the centre-back somehow managed to be at the right place every time a cross would come into the box.

And here’s what football pundit Gary Neville had to say about Virgil Van Dijk.

‘I thought Van Dijk’s performance was a joke,’ Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast(as reported).

‘He was absolutely outstanding. The thing that worried me a couple of weeks ago has subsided a little bit for Liverpool

‘I thought in the West Ham game and the Leicester City game they looked scabby at the back.

‘And that was a real worry if you are a Liverpool fan if you start to concede chances and look a bit scruffy that would start to be a problem.

‘But they’ve got control back this week. This could be a big week for Liverpool.

‘Three clean sheets, the clean sheet against Bayern Munich, four clean sheets on the bounce, they could look back on these 10 days while others are looking at it with disappointment, as a week where they actually retained control of what they were doing for the rest of the season.

‘Because the fixtures are good, they are better than City’s.’

The Reds paid an awful lot of money in order to sign Virgil Van Dijk and at first, there was a lot of criticism about the finances of the transfer.

Now though, it is safe to say that this transfer is easily one of the best investments that the Reds have made in a really long time.
