Ligue 1 side PSG are keen to make a move for Liverpool’s 30-year-old midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, according to reports in France.

Inside Futbol cite French daily Le Parisien claiming: “Paris Saint-Germain may well have an interest in Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum as they hunt for cost-effective signings, it has been claimed in France.

“PSG have been linked with Wijnaldum and, according to French daily Le Parisien, the midfielder may well be in the Ligue 1 club’s sights.

“It has been claimed that PSG will be in the market for midfielders in the summer and the 30-year-old is an attractive proposition.”

Will Gini Wijnaldum head to PSG in the summer?

Gini Wijnaldum is set to become a free agent in the summer and it does not look like Liverpool are going to offer him a new deal at the club.

And this prospect of signing the Dutchman for free seems to be the reason why PSG are suddenly showing an interest in him.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Gini Wijnaldum but if Ronald Koeman is sacked due to a Champions League exit then we don’t think the Catalans will still be interested in the 30-year-old.

Wijnaldum remains an integral part of the Liverpool midfield having featured in 25 Premier League games so far this season but Jurgen Klopp will not hesitate to let him leave in the summer since the manager has ample backing in the form of Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho.

A move to PSG would make much more sense for the midfielder since Barcelona are currently in a rebuilding process so if he moves to Paris, Gini Wijnaldum will have much better chances of winning silverware.
