Antonio Conte looked all set to replace Jose Mourinho as the next Tottenham Hotspur manager but as per the latest reports, the Premier League side have abandoned the move.

After shuffling through many alternatives, Daniel Levy had finally set his sights on the recently departed Inter Milan manager and it was almost certain that the Italian was about to return to the English top division for a second stint.

As per the Daily Telegraph, the negotiations have stalled due to ‘concern from both parties’ and also because Antonio Conte is not clear that Spurs have the right vision to succeed.

Fabrizio Romano has also said the same thing on Twitter: “Antonio Conte is not joining Tottenham at current conditions, confirmed.

“He’s not convinced about project and staff members. Big difference on salary proposal too.”

The transfer expert also went on to add the main reasons why the ex-Chelsea manager will not be taking charge of the North London side.

Talking about the collapsed talks, he said: “Antonio Conte wanted to bring more than 4 staff members to Tottenham, Spurs reluctant on this point.

“Salary proposal difference around €3m. Investments and project to win ‘as soon as possible’, another issue. That’s why talks with Conte have stalled – no agreement.”

Fabio Paratici was one of the personnel whom Antonio Conte wanted to bring in at Spurs and according to the latest reports, he has decided to join Tottenham as their next director of football, despite the manager moving away from the job offer.

This comes as a huge blow for Tottenham Hotspur since a lot of great managers are available in the market right now and now with Antonio Conte declining the job, Spurs might have to take a gamble with a relatively inexperienced manager.

Managers like Erik ten Hag and Julian Nagelsmann have already slipped away and there’s no chance that a club like Spurs will be able to lure in Zinedine Zidane. So Levy might have to make a move for someone like Nuno Espirito Santo or Roberto Martinez in the coming months.
