Antoine Griezmann to Chelsea?

Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United might have the chance to sign Antoine Griezmann from FC Barcelona thanks to Lionel Messi’s decision to take a U-turn and remain at Camp Nou.

The Daily Mail suggests: “Premier League clubs are on fresh alert to sign French World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann who is the biggest loser from Lionel Messi’s decision to stay at Barcelona.

“Griezmann had been promised the Messi role by new Barca boss Ronald Koeman had the Argentine legend left the Nou Camp but those plans are in tatters following Messi’s announcement on Friday that he won’t take Barcelona to court to force an early exit.

“Griezmann, an ever-present in France’s triumphant 2018 campaign in Russia, has previously been linked with Liverpool whose pressing style under Jurgen Klopp mirrors the success he had at Atletico for Diego Simeone.

“Arsenal and Manchester United have also been admirers though Barca would have to agree to a major loss on their investment to make any deal happen.”

Will Antoine Griezmann move to the PL?

Ronald Koeman is yet to figure out his best starting XI for the upcoming season but we do not think Barcelona will be ready to part ways with someone like Antoine Griezmann, after just one season.

Yes, the new boss wants to give Philippe Coutinho a chance to revive his career in Spain but the Brazilian is wanted by a number of big English clubs right now. So it would make much more sense to cash in on Coutinho instead of putting Griezmann up for sale.

Last season, the 29-year-old scored nine goals in 35 La Liga games for Barcelona which is certainly not the best output but the fact that he can play on a number of different attacking positions will obviously pique the interest of Koeman.

So while Liverpool and Manchester United will undoubtedly keep a keen eye on this development but we do not think the Catalans are going to part ways with Antoine Griezmann this summer.
